This blog post is for my fellow foodies ! Finding cool restaurants and bars is my favorite part of planning of a vacation . I mean technically you’re suppose to get 3 square meals a day , right? Ha !  I’ve done my research , that includes being the ultimate taste tester . I’ve visited Houston several times and I thought I’d create this list together for anyone planning to visit Houston . Here’s a list of my top 5 favorite restaurants for my Houston foodies ! Try not to drool , k !

Lucille’s : A little bit about Lucille’s, Lucille B. Smith was the first African American businesswoman in Texas! Her food has been served all over, including the White House. This restaurant is located in the Third ward area. Get there early because there’s typically a long wait ! Everyone raved about the chicken so I had to try it. Get the Hot Cake Stack and add wings ! There’s spiked berries on top of the pancakes, it’s divine! The truffle mac & cheese is to die for. It’s a crowd favorite so you know the drill, hurry and order before it runs out !

Breakfast Klub : This is a major Houston staple ! They’re famous for Chicken & Waffles and Katfish! With it being a hot topic, you’ll want to arrive early as well. While waiting for your food, you can jam out to some old school R&B. Breakfast Club walls are adorned with local Houston artists. On to food …I always order the chicken and waffles The chicken is crispy and has a very unique taste to it ! The grits are a must have, buttery and cheesy goodness ! Don’t worry if you can’t make it during the day, they’re open late night on the weekends !

State Fare : Think everything is BIG in Texas ! From the big pancakes, mac & cheese and drink flights ; this place does not disappoint ! State Fare has an extensive food & drink menu. I got my ENTIRE life from the frozen margarita flight. I love trying different, innovative drinks. I had four different flavor margaritas and was tempted to order another ! My dish of choice is the Shrimp & Andouille Sausage Etoufee. It’s serve over white rice, with Ray’s Fried catfish on top. Can’t wait to go back and try more.

Seaside Lounge : Newly opened lounge near Downtown Houston, this lounge definitely exceeded my expectations. They host Saturday and Sunday brunch day parties . The menu consists of a mix of seafood and southern cuisine . The Tex Mex omelet was stuffed with lobster and shrimp with a side of home potatoes and fruit. The chicken and waffles are great as well ! Go here for a good time and happy stomach !

Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse : It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t leave you guys with a splurge restaurant ! This steakhouse is equipped with the big guns, killer wine list, hand-crafted cocktails and top of the line seafood and steaks. The service is superb ; I can easily see why it’s one of the top 10 steakhouses. What to order : the snapper topped with crab…..or the obvious Filet . You can’t go wrong. Perfect date night spot or birthday celebration.
